Cable: Either Corbyn backs Brexit or he backs the people
Responding to the defeat of Jeremy Corbyn's vote of no confidence in the Conservative Government by 325 votes to 306 votes, Leader of the Liberal Democrats Vince Cable said:
Only the Liberal Democrats are united in fighting Brexit
GIVE YOU THE FINAL SAY CHANCE TO REJECT BREXIT AND PROTECT JOBS
Labour fail to back a people's say on Brexit
Commenting on the Labour frontbench abstaining and Tory peers voting against the people having the final say on the Brexit Deal in the House of Lords, Liberal Democrat leader in the House of Lords Dick Newby said:
“This vote has shown that since we last voted on the issue a year ago there has been a large shift in favour of giving the people the final say on any Brexit deal.
Brexit figures reveal damning outlook across Britain
The figures for the lost growth to each region of the UK from the various Brexit scenarios still on the table, have been leaked. The figures show that projected lost growth across the UK if the government gets no deal will be a devastating 8%, 5% with a free trade agreement, and 2% if we remain in the Single Market.
Breaking it down region by region, the worst case scenario, that has still not be ruled out by the government, would see the North East lose a devastating 16% of growth, the West Midlands 13%, and the North West and Northern Ireland 12%.
