“This vote has shown that since we last voted on the issue a year ago there has been a large shift in favour of giving the people the final say on any Brexit deal.

The figures show that projected lost growth across the UK if the government gets no deal will be a devastating 8%, 5% with a free trade agreement, and 2% if we remain in the Single Market.

Breaking it down region by region, the worst case scenario, that has still not be ruled out by the government, would see the North East lose a devastating 16% of growth, the West Midlands 13%, and the North West and Northern Ireland 12%.

Vince Cable MPResponding to news that the Chancellor has not ruled out the UK staying in some form of customs union with the EU after Brexit, Liberal Democrat leader Vince Cable said:

“The likes Fox and Gardiner have cheerfully dismissed the concerns of British industry, but this offers some reassurance that the Chancellor does understand the economic advantages of being part of a customs union with the EU.
