Save our Tips
Conservative run Surrey County Council is to close the local recycling centre at Warlingham and restrict Caterham Hill site - all in a bid to save money.
County Cllr David Lee says, “Surrey is broke - it is desperately trying to save £100 million this year. But this plan is shortsighted. Closing Warlingham tip will push the 70,000 visits per year to the overcrowded site in Chaldon Road.”
Cllr Alun Jones says, “These proposals are a green light for fly-tipping. The Conservatives at County Hall are making it harder and harder for people to do the right thing and dispose of their waste responsibly.”
Surrey also want to increase charges and reduce opening hours.
The Recycling centres are paid for by Surrey County Council, but fly-tipping is cleared up by Tandridge District Council. David says, “This is another example of how the Tories running Surrey and the Tories running Tandridge are not communicating. Other councils across the South East manage to keep their recycling centres open and spend less per head on services. Surrey’s inefficient, top heavy management is costing residents their important services”

Anger as Tory plans to axe Recycling Centres in Surrey are revealed
Liberal Democrat county councillors in Surrey have expressed their anger and opposition to Tory plans to axe 4 Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) across the county. The plans follow on from the introduction of hugely unpopular charges to use the CRCs last year which were forced through by the Conservative Cabinet, despite widespread opposition by residents and Liberal Democrat county councillors.
