Tandridge Council have announced the latest consultation of the local plan. This is about finding site where developers could build over the next 20 years.
Included in the consultation are a number of sites. The brownfield sites have reduced from last time around, however there has been the inclusion for the second consultation a number of green spaces and car parks in Caterham Valley, Harestone and Whyteleafe .
These sites include Timberhill Park, the green space at Waller Lane separating the Hill and the Valley, land on Burntwood Lane and both the Edgeworth Close and the Permit Holders Godstone Road Car Parks in Whyteleafe
Councillor Dorinda Cooper says "The thing that concerns me the most are the inclusion of our parks and car parks. I want to ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to feed back any concerns they have as part of the consultation."
Caterham and Whyteleafe have taken huge amounts of the total development that has happened in Tandridge over the last few years. We know the infrastructure is creaking. The drains cant cope with large down pours, car parking is a nightmare and it is difficult to get doctor’s appointment.
Councillor David Lee commented, “I am clear that we can have no new development without the required infrastructure. No building on our green spaces. No increase in density.”
