EU doctors and nurses in East Surrey must be given right to stay
The Liberal Democrats have called on Sam Gyimah to ensure thousands EU nationals living in East Surrey are guaranteed the right to remain in Britain, as figures have revealed the extent to which local NHS services rely on EU nationals.
The news comes after the government was defeated in a historic vote in the House of Lords this week, after peers voted for an amendment to guarantee the right of EU citizens to remain in the UK. The issue will now be voted on by MPs, as pressure mounts on the government to change position.
Liberal Democrat response to Tandridge budget setting
Last night was the budget setting meeting at Tandridge District Council where it was agreed to increase tax for a band D home by 2.52% or £5, however the meeting was shaken by Conservative Leader Martin Fishers announcement that the council would be supporting the development of a Garden Village in the District.
